TABLE OF CONTENTS As this is our last newsletter of the year, and everyone is gearing up for the holiday season, we truly want to wish each and every one of you a very Happy Holidays. It is hard to believe Veterans Day and Thanksgiving are right around the corner. Before we know it, it will be Christmas, Chanukah, Kwanzaa and New Year s Eve! Isn t it exciting that there are so many days to show our appreciation for others and reflect on the accomplishments of the past year? On behalf of all of us at Monarch, please enjoy this most incredible holiday season and we hope you are able to spend extra time with your families and friends celebrating! NOVEMBER 2019, ISSUE 2 A Message from the COO Wow! I can t believe we are already a month into our campaign, Monarch s Vision is 2020, YOU Are the Reason! A huge congratulations to our first winner, Yvonne Mills, from The Emeralds at St. Paul, for winning the Vikings/Packers tickets! In just a couple of weeks we will be raffling off some other great prizes, including an iPad and some other new gadgets. In December, we will be raffling off SUPERBOWL Tickets! So keep smiling and continuing the amazing job you do every day with our residents and families for a chance to earn more tickets! 2020 marks a very big milestone for Monarch Healthcare Management, our 5 year anniversary! We plan to culminate our vision with an ALL STAFF bash on July 1st, with planning already underway! Details coming soon, but look forward to lots of great activities, fun contests, a concert and more! This has been the most incredible experience in my life. I can t say what it means to me to have people smiling everyday, everywhere I go. When family members call me up telling me about the unbelievable staff we have, it makes everything worth it and I hope you feel the same. Thank YOU for all that YOU do to make this possible! -Marc Halpert MHCM 4th Annual Hungry Games The Hungry Games kicked off in August with nearly 40 campuses and over 100 tributes to see who among Monarch has the finest Culinary Services! Through blood, sweat and tears, we are proud to announce our District Champs- our "Select 6 . They will face off in the quarterfinals to determine who will make it to the Final 3 and compete for this year s Championship Trophy! May the Odds Be Every In Your Flavor!
NOVEMBER 2019, ISSUE 2 HR News and Notables Monarch Healthcare Management has updated our Employee Handbook. Every employee is required to review the updates and acknowledge receipt. All employees have been assigned a course in Health Care Academy (HCA) to complete and acknowledge by November 15, 2019. If you do not see the course in your HCA list or have trouble accessing HCA, please check in with your Human Resources Director. THE "NOBODY PUTS THE ASSISTED LIVINGS IN A CORNER" CORNER As we have continued to grow, so has our Assisted Living portfolio and it is with great excitement that I have the opportunity to promote two of our Assisted Living Clinical Directors to Assisted Living Nurse Consultants. Angie Mastin has been with Monarch for 3 years. Angie never stops hustling and is always wanting to discuss new and innovative ideas to make the Monarch ALs more successful! Angie will be helping in the Southern region with new staff training, Eldermark education, and mock surveys, while still overseeing the Beacon at Mapleton and the two ALs in Faribault. Brooke Anderson is the Clinical Director at our Parmly on the Lake AL and has been there for 7 years! Brooke is a rock star and her organization and hard work is unparalleled. Brooke will be helping in the Northern region with a focus on assisting with our policies, procedures and the new AL regulations while still maintaining her home at the Parmly AL! NOVEMBER 2019, ISSUE 2 STAFF SPOTLIGHT Barb Stepka, CNA Mala Strana Rehabilitation Center Barb has been with Mala Strana for almost 40 years. She started her nursing career in 1980 as a nursing assistant in the long-term care and currently works in assisted living. According to Barb, All of the staff at Mala Strana Assisted Living give 100% for the tenants daily and it is an honor and privilege to call them coworkers and friends. Barb s selfless, caring demeanor shines through in the care she provides to the tenants. When tenants were asked what words best described Barb, they all agreed- Perfect, sweet, always cheerful, understanding, accommodating to everyone's needs, doesn t hesitate to help, and makes everyone feel comfortable. Her enthusiasm to make sure that everyone is included does not go unnoticed by anyone, including her coworkers. They say Barb has a great sense of humor and a kind, compassionate heart.
