  12. Student-Led Conferences Preplanned meeting in which students demonstrate responsibility for their academic performance by providing a review of their work for family and teachers. The students lead the conference by presenting work samples, discussing their learning, and show what they have learned. They prepare and organize work samples, demonstrate new learning, plan next steps, and receive feedback from their parents and teachers about strengths and goals for improvement. Students take more ownership of their learning in a Student-led conference. Parents and students have open communication about the school, after- school activities, and other essential decisions in life. Student-Led conferences also create more opportunities for teachers to establish a stronger working relationship with parents and students. Some of our students prefer more teacher interaction at their conference while others prefer less. Teachers will be circulating the conference space and making sure that they interact when appropriate and interject in conferences where they have information that they would like to share.
