Refrigeration and Air conditioning Service Sector The segment of room air-conditioners is the largest servicing sub- sector in India; Improved servicing practices for technicians trained during Phase I and II would actually lead to HCFC emission reductions every year; The consumption will be reduced mainly through training on better servicing practices and leak prevention; Awareness raising, early adoption of better servicing practices and recovery would have an immediate phase-out impact and could significantly reduce the consumption of HCFC in the country. Sector Strategy Activities Capacity Building / Technicians Training Training T echnicians in Good Servicing Practices leads to : Reduced leakage / containment Improved safety concepts Increased energy-efficiency Safe Handling of new refrigerants Introduce technicians with new refrigerants properties and safety measures Page 3
Sector Strategy contd Outreach to various stakeholders/Institutional strengthening Expand existing training network Work with multipliers (institutions, companies, RASSS, National Skills Development Corporation) Identify and work with additional service providers Curricula adjustments for ITI Introduction of Certification program Technical Assistance through meeting/conferences of stakeholders RAC Training Centre State of art Page 4
Training of service technicians in room air-conditioners up to 2 ton Development of training material for technicians and trainers Training of Trainers (ToT) Main target group: Technicians from institutions, franchisees and the semi-organised RAC sector. Train technicians in good servicing practices, leak prevention and introduce them to alternative refrigerants Not more than two technicians from one service enterprise to be trained Reach out to technicians in metros and towns all over India.
