On a treacherous mountain road, a physicist, engineer, and programmer face a brake failure crisis in a speeding car. Their different approaches - modeling, mechanical check, and reproducibility - highlight the essence of collaboration and problem-solving. The narrative unfolds humorously as they narrowly avoid disaster through quick thinking. Transitioning to the Model-View-Controller (MVC) design pattern, the story translates the intense situation into software development concepts. Explore the MVC pattern's components - Model, View, and Controller - and their roles in data-driven applications.

  1. The Enigma of Mass Excellence cluster (LABEX) ENIGMASS Comite de PilotageMeeting Yannis Karyotakis June 18th , 2014

  2. Status today This the 2ndfull year the Labex is running The Labex is supporting mostly manpower. No budget for equipment. Three fields of actions : Research, Education, Valorisation and Communication. Favor as much as possible collaborations between Annecy Grenoble Modane. Research : We aim to create a neutrino physics pole. Coherent effort between the LABEX, our funding agency (IN2P3) and ANR. The standard model and beyond. Experimentalists and theorists to develop the Higgs sector and searches for new phenomena. Can we develop common projects between different astro-particle programs ? For the 1stphase every large program was supported to enhance the scientific output. Instrumentation : The LHC upgrade is our target, in particular the ATLAS tracker.

  3. Status today (2) Education Very successful launch of the instrumentation school this winter, ESIPAP. Aim to run 2 modules per year and ~ 15 students. Summer school GRASPA for M1 and bachelor international students. Very positive answer from Europe and close region ! Spin-offs Two emerging and promising projects supported : Development of a sensitive seismic sensor Development of a portable directional neutron detector Scientific communication We largely support few local events : Les Houches or the Statistics school. Some support is also provided to HEP and Astro events in France or elsewhere

  4. Support Ecoles et confrences Good number of visitors from 1 week to few months

  6. Strengths and weaknesses Strengths and weaknesses Strengths : A well focused scientific program Small number of participants Weaknesses Small number of participants Seen from a physicist point of vue as we are another funding cashier ! Risks Difficulties to make choices and follow a well understood strategy Remediation We really need external advice and help We do not want to build an administrative monster and loose flexibility CS members and few extra external experts have to help us.

  7. Conclusion We favor the development of synergies between the participants. This can not happen from the 1stday but we see now common efforts developing on key strategic projects. Neutrinos, LHC physics , instrumentation We need external help to keep an open minded approach. We count on the CS members for that.
