  1. PASSION WEEK HOLY SATURDAY

  2. Silent Saturday, Great Sabbath, Holy Fire Saturday and some call it in many other names. Today is the last day of the Passion week but not the least.

  3. EVENTS: 4 E 1. EMBALMING Jesus Body 2. ENTOMBING Jesus Body 3. ENCAMPING over Jesus Tomb 4. ENTERING into Sheol/hades

  4. 1. EMBALMING Jesus Body Jesus body was requested by a man, Joseph Arimathea. Who himself has become a disciple. He kept the body in his tomb, hewn out of rock. And Joseph and Nicodemus embalmed the body with 45kg spices. John 19:38-42. Perhaps the anointing of the body was left incomplete due to the approach of Sabbath Day. Matt 23:56.

  5. 2. ENTOMBING Jesus Body Jesus was kept in the tomb of Joseph. Who was a disciple of Jesus. He was council member, a good and just man, and waiting for the kingdom of God. Luke 23:50-51. Was Jesus 3 days and 3 nights in the tomb? It should be counted Culturally. For Jews 3 days and 3 nights could anytime of day 1 (morning or evening), the entire day 2, and anytime time of day 3 (morning or evening).

  6. 3. ENCAMPING over Jesus Tomb Matthew 27:62-66 Chief priests and Pharisees went Pilate. Pilate provided soldiers for guarding the tomb of Jesus. So that body of Jesus couldn t be stolen.

  7. 4. ENTERING into Sheol/hades (rest) 1 Peter 4:6, which notes that the "good tidings were proclaimed to the dead". Ephesians 4:9 states that "[Christ] descended into the lower parts of the earth", this could also mean Abraham s bosom or paradise. This is also known as Harrowing of the hell, that means robbing of the hell. Hell is German holle means to cover or hide. Hell can be seen as the holding place where the souls of the good and the bad went after death (Luke 16:19-31). It is to be differentiated from Gehenna, the place of eternal torment (Mark 9:42-48; Revelation 20:14).

  8. TO WHOM? All are liberated (hell and resting dead) (Orthodox Liturgical) OT Saints liberated (Eastern Patriach Tradition) Who followed Christ Liberated (St. Augustine) Who lived by faith and piety were liberated (Western Tradition)
