Integrated Basic Science Board Reviews How-to: Dr. Paul Anderson
About Dr. Anderson Dr. Paul Anderson is a practicing naturopathic physician who has been either full time or adjunct faculty at NCNM, CCNM, SCNM, UB, Bastyr and other Universities during the past 25 years. He has taught NPLEX board reviews for the past 20. During that time as the NPLEX has changed he has evolved the coverage and methodology for the Board Reviews to match the test changes. In a study done at NCNM the pass rate for those who completed the board review series was 20% higher than those who did not.
Overview Basic Science Reviews given at ND schools follow the following format: ****ALL FORMAT COMPLETELY REVISED FOR THE NEW BOARD FORMAT*** Information based on learning content areas and seventeen years teaching and writing board exam questions will be given in the following basic medical science areas: Anatomy Physiology Biochemistry Pathology Microbiology Immunology Based on the change by NABNE to an integrated case-based basic science examination these five topics will be integrated to the degree possible to enhance integrated learning. Some areas such as cellular physiology, portions of biochemistry, and portions of immunology will necessarily be taught separately as required.
Documents and Recordings Via the my scnm web portal you have access to two groups of information used for the review: The power point and other files The screencast recording links
Documents The power point files follow a numerical prefix and these numeric prefixes are the same as the recordings
Recordings Each recording will show the slides in order with Dr. Andersons narration. The recorded material will be available through my scnm for you to play and re-play as needed for your home study These recordings have all the material from a live review presentation and MORE that is often not included in the live sessions.
Benefits The major benefits are: You have both the plain power points for review You have the recorded reviews matching those power points You can replay them as needed and skip areas you wish to skip All the ND schools will have the exact same information available
So Where are the recordings? The Basic Science recordings are in final production and will be uploaded to the bookmarked site (found on the main course page on my scnm) in early December.
