  2. Four year college Steps: (1) Take the SAT/ACT. (2) Apply. (3) Request your transcript through Parchment. (4) Fill out FAFSA- Opens early December - Must fill out FAFSA to receive SC Education Lottery Scholarships

  3. Paying for College (1) Grants from state and federal government - Do not have to be paid back - MUST complete the FASFA (2) Loans (3) Scholarships Mrs. Tice needs a copy of all Scholarship offers!

  4. Scholarships Athletic- Need to see counselor to be eligible for NCAA (1) Academic (2) National Scholarships: a. www.bigfuture.collegeboard.org www.fastweb.com www.scholarships.com b. Merit Scholarships from college/university c. State scholarships from lottery (only SC schools) d. Local Scholarships

SC State Education Lottery Scholarship Two year colleges: LIFE- $5000 3.0 weighted GPA Lottery Tuition Assistance Four year colleges: HOPE: $2800 3.0 weighted GPA (2 of 3 requirements) LIFE: $5000 3.0 weighted GPA, top 30% of class, 1100 SAT or 22 ACT Palmetto Fellows: $6700; 3.5 GPA, top 6%, 1200 SAT or 25 ACT or 4.0, 1400 SAT or 31 ACT

Local Scholarships- Scholarship Newsletter **Leavelle McCampbell School Alumni Association LMMS Local MVHS only April Several scholarships of $1000 or $2000 Applicants should have 3.0 weighted GPA, MUST have attended Leavelle McCampbell Middle, plan to attend 2 or 4 year. Application and page (roughly) paper of how you display good character, integrity and good citizenship. Jean Johnson Memorial Scholarship (Gregg Graniteville Foundation) Local- only MVHS April $1000 Applicants must have participated in athletics (team, cheer, support staff). Plan to attend 2 or 4 year college and exemplify good citizenship by contributing to the community. Application and page(roughly) paper of how you have demonstrated good character and good citizenship. Carly Prosser Memorial Scholarship Local April $500 MVHS Only: Scholarship given in memory of Carly Prosser. Applicants should be a past or present Buddy Club or Project Unify (PE) member for at least 1 year. Application and essay Applicants should be African American with 3.0/4.0 GPA and have completed a minimum of 100 community service hours from Sept.2017-present.   7. Local Scholarships 90% of them come after November Scholarship Newsletter will be emailed and online. Ms. Tice will mail scholarships for you. They MUST be turned in by the deadline. CREATE YOUR ACADEMIC RESUME NOW- See page 8 in folder for example

  8. Advice from a counselor who also has a daughter in college Focus on local scholarships Apply, apply, apply. If you truly want to earn scholarships, treat this like a part-time job. Do something that sets you apart from others (community service) Stay organized with dates and make lists of the tasks you need to complete.
