The Human Development Index (HDI) is a composite measure reflecting achievements in life expectancy, education, and standard of living. It serves as a vital indicator for tracking progress in human development and guiding policy decisions worldwide. Initiated in the 1990 Human Development Report by the UN, HDI emphasizes the importance of creating an environment that enables individuals to make meaningful choices for self-improvement. The collaboration between Dr. Mehbub ul Haq and Prof. Amartya Sen led to the establishment of HDI as a more inclusive measure compared to GDP. By aggregating various indicators, HDI provides a comprehensive overview of human development progress globally.

Nomination Period JANUARY 14TH JANUARY 18TH COLLECT SIGNATURES FROM 1% OF AMS AND AND SGPS FEE PAYING MEMBERS 281 SIGNATURES NOT AN OPPORTUNITY TO CAMPAIGN

JANUARY 23rd at 6:00 PM Validation at Assembly Candidates who have successfully collected signatures are ratified at AMS Assembly

JANUARY 29th FEBRUARY 5th Campaigning may NOT begin before this time Campaign Period Publicize and promote your campaign Engage with students

Candidates are allotted $400 o Re-imbursement forms due 5pm on February 7th o Giveaways, raffles, other prizes not permitted Campaign Period Rules All materials must be approved by the Elections Team Endorsements and Mass Emails o Not permitted from AMS Assembly Voting Members, AMS Execs, or FacSoc Execs o Club Endorsements allowed

FEBRUARY 6th FEBRUARY 7th [ 8:00 PM ] VOTING DAYS *Online campaigning allowed Results released night of February 7th

DISPUTES All disputes or complaints regarding the violation of AMS elections policy shall be submitted in the manner determined by the Elections Team All complaints must include: o The candidates or team involved in the violation o Reference of the election policy which they are in violation of Sanctions: warnings, financial penalties, social media limits and disqualification. Submit an Elections Policy Complaint Form (found in the nomination package) ceo@ams.queensu.ca
