  3. Alias: Turkish pipe t rogat s p The whistle s story goes back very far. From the history of the Hungarians a thousand year ago, we could find evidences of musicians playing such kind of instrument, but it is unknown that those instrument were similar to what we call t rogat or not. The first data comes from the 15th-16th century.

  4. From information deriving from the 18th century we know that when there was an event national consciousness is emphasized, t rogat was often used. At the end of the 19th century, the two instrument factory Schunda and Stowasser factories modernize the t rogat and the reform t rogat was born.

  5. Schunda Vencel Jzsef s Stowasser Jnos gave in their description of the t rogat to the Patent Office in Budapest . The first instrument makers extended the instrument's body, and installed a few keys on the instrument for easy playability. Playing the instrument was done with double reed, but later simple reed was used like a clarinet. This changed the sound of t rogat which was smoother.
