FOUR PILLARS OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN 1of 4: Work Teams and Culture Michelle Houston, SAIL Teacher Zach Selnes, Director of Special Education Terri Kersting, Blind & Visually Impaired Teacher SMART Goal for Pillar 1 Specific The goal is to foster a shared understanding of each district s culture and values to improve engagement, value, and connectedness among HVED staff and member districts. Measurable Success will be measured through surveys assessing staff perceptions of engagement, value, and connectedness, targeting a 30% increase in positive responses from the baseline in January 2025 to follow-up surveys in April 2027. Achievable This goal is achievable through a clear series of actions, including surveys and a values framework, supported by regular check-ins and progress monitoring. Relevant The goal is directly aligned with the broader mission of HVED, the strategic plan, and its member districts to build stronger collaboration, mutual understanding, and respect among staff. Time-bound The goal is to be achieved by the end of the 2027 school year, with specific deadlines for each objective (January 2025, June 2025, 2026-2027 school year, and April 2027). FOUR PILLARS OF THE STRATEGIC PLAN 2 of 4: Talent Retention, Development, and Recruitment Cheri Duffenbach, Human Resources Manager Cory Hanson, L-A Secondary Principal Dorothy Gibson, School Psychologist (virtual) Pillar 2 SMART Goal for Retention and Onboarding Specific: Develop a comprehensive onboarding program tailored to the unique needs of itinerant staff, including training on protocols, technology, scheduling, and inter-district communication. Measurable: Achieve and 90% retention rate of itinerant staff and program staff. Achievable: Establish a cross-functional team to design the onboarding program by May 2025 Relevant: This goal aligns with HVED's mission to enhance support for Member Districts by ensuring all staff are well-prepared and effective in their roles from the beginning. Tool: Defined services, survey Strategies: meetings to define and update services Evidence: Survey results Success looks/sounds like: HVED staff and HVED member districts understand what services are provided and how to access them, and that survey results indicate districts are getting the expected services.   12. NEXT STEPS? The SPOC Committee will finalize goal language and format. They will develop three-four objectives to help meet the goal. The HVED Strategic Plan Oversight Committee meets virtually on the first Tuesday of every month from 4-5 PM. SPOC will develop a universal survey to send to stakeholders to create goal baselines. Quarterly reports will be made to the HVED Board of Directors in March, April, June, August, October, and December. Standing questions: What is HVED doing well? What can we improve upon?
