  1. HYDROSTATIC FORCES ON GATE OF DAM- VERTICAL AND INCLINED J. Badshah SGIDT, Patna (Bihar Animal Sciences University, Patna)

  2. MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURE MEASUREMENT OF PRESSURE Total Pressure P = A h bar Centre of Pressure h = IG/Ahbar+ hbar Total Pressure on inclined plane P = A hbar Centre of Pressure on inclined Plane h = IGSin2 /Ahbar + hbar Where = Inclination of the surface with horizontal For horizontal Plane =0, h = h bar For vertical Planes = 90 , h = IG/Ahbar+ hbar

  3. SOLVING PROBLEMS ON HYDROSTATIC SOLVING PROBLEMS ON HYDROSTATIC FORCES ON GATE FORCES ON GATE Calculate the total hydrostatic pressure on the gate AB of the vessel shown in Figure. The width of the gate perpendicular to the plane of paper is 1 meter. The liquid in the vessel is water having specific weight as 1000 kgf/m3. Solution: Force =Total Pressure P = A h =1000x(2x1)x2 = 4000 Kgf The depth of center of Pressure= (IG/A hbar) + hbar, = 1/12 x 1 x 23/ (2x1)x2 +2 = 2.17 meter bar

  4. PROBLEMS ON INCLINED PLANE Calculate the total pressure and the depth of the centre of pressure on the inclined gate shown in Figure. The width of the gate perpendicular to the plane of paper is one meter. Total Pressure = P = A hbar= 1000 x (2x1) [1 + 1/ 2] = 3420 kgf Centre of Pressure h = IGSin2 / A hbar bar= 1/12 x1 23(Sin 45)2/(2x1) 1.71 + 1.71= 1.807 m + h
