Replace LC by IEEE Std 802.11bb-2023 in 8.1 5.5 Spell out "LC". Replaced LC with IEEE Std 802.11bb-2023 IEEE Standards follow the Chicago manual of Style. According to this manual, dashes are set without preceding or following spaces. Please consider removing the related white-spaces in 2.1. The text could be changed to include the MAC. Suggest to change the introduction paragraph in 5.2.b to: This amendment provides enhanced light communications (ELC) for Wireless LAN operation. This amendment modifies the IEEE 802.11 MAC to support the ELC PHY and multi-link operation. The amendment introduces an ELC PHY through the modification of IEEE 802.11 sub-7.25 GHz PHYs. Revised now reads Light Communications (LC) devices as defined in IEEE Std 802.11bb-2023 Section 5.5: expand acronym LC in the fourth sentence. Revised a previous change expanded the acronym earlier in the PAR (LC defined in 5.2.b in the new version). Expansion is not needed here. Also the stakeholder statement is confusing and implies that the stakeholders may be end users. Suggest to use the stakeholder statement from the CSD document. To address the comment, the added benefit of the IEEE 802.11 ELC amendment over ITU-T G.9991 is the use of the IEEE 802.11 MAC and PHY, which enable enhanced mobility, interoperability with other wireless local area networks and lower power consumption. Specifically, the proposed IEEE 802.11 ELC amendment uses the IEEE 802.11 sub-7 GHz MAC and PHY. Tighter integration with IEEE 802.11, coexistence and hand-over with other IEEE 802.11 systems will help to increase the ELC market by addressing additional applications. Suggested change lighting infrastructure has the opportunity to become an important communications infrastructure in the future. Accepted Section 1.2.3: Distinct Identity see the comment against the PAR regarding ITU-T G.9991 relevance. See comment above. Referring to 802.11 as a mature technology does not imply that that LC infrastructure is mature. Are you referring to 802.11 or 802.11bb? It seems to be more appropriate to refer to 802.11bb. Revised new sentence added: IEEE 802.11bb enables IEEE 802.11 devices to use the optical spectrum with products shipping since 2024. Section 1.2.5 Economic Feasibility, item d . In the second sentence, security is a broad and loaded term. Please either improve or remove the claims on security and safety. Revised added a statement to clarify the security and safety claims. Revised text reads as: Using the light spectrum in ELC for downlink and uplink can be more power consuming relative to sub-7 GHz IEEE 802.11 systems. However, the use of ELC offers added security and safety benefits because light does not pass through walls, cannot be jammed and does not interfere with existing RF systems. These features can outweigh the additional energy consumption and offer tangible advantages by enabling wireless communications where typical RF systems could not be deployed.
