NEGATIVE CHANGES POSITIVE CHANGES Instant access to news and updates around the world can lead to information overload and difficulty discerning fact from opinion Facilitates the spread of false information and misinformation Promotes the reliance on headlines and short snippets of information Encourages the quick sharing of news without thorough verification Increases the influence of social media algorithms and filter bubbles Raises concerns about privacy and data security Ability to follow and engage with news sources and individuals directly Provides a platform for diverse perspectives and alternative voices Allows for real-time discussions on current events
SELF-REFLECTION - PT. 2 WHEN YOU SEE NEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, DO YOU TAKE TIME TO WHEN YOU SEE NEWS ON SOCIAL MEDIA, DO YOU TAKE TIME TO RESEARCH IT FURTHER? RESEARCH IT FURTHER? Yes, whenever I see anything that I find interesting online, I often take time out of my day to research the story further in order to verify the accuracy and credibility of it. This is because I know that I shouldn t believe everything that I see on social media, as it often can lead to the spread of misinformation and bias. Not only this, but I like to do my research in order to protect myself from scams as well as help myself make smart decisions, rather than being influenced by a single fake post.
WHAT VALUE DO YOU GET FROM ONLINE SOCIAL INTERACTIONS? BUILD/MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS BUILD/MAINTAIN RELATIONSHIPS: It allows us to connect with others that we would never even met otherwise as well as maintain long distance relationships. INCREASED SOCIAL SUPPORT: INCREASED SOCIAL SUPPORT: Online interactions provides a platform for us to seek emotional support, advice, or comfort, especially when we feel isolated. DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES AND KNOWLEDGE: DIVERSE PERSPECTIVES AND KNOWLEDGE: Quick and easy access to a wide range of opinions, experiences, and knowledge from people all over the world.
HOW IS SOCIAL MEDIA AND SOCIAL CAPITAL HELPING TO FORM YOUTH CULTURE? COMMUNICATION COMMUNICATION: It provides a space for young people to connect, share ideas, and collaborate with others who share similar interests. CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND GLOBAL AWARENESS: CULTURAL EXCHANGE AND GLOBAL AWARENESS: It allows young people to talk to others from different cultural backgrounds, and they can learn about diverse perspectives. MOBILIZATION AND ACTIVISM: MOBILIZATION AND ACTIVISM: It becomes a place for young people to raise awareness, and advocate for their social and political beliefs.
When you post online do you consider how the post may be seen by others? Yes, I always make sure to consider that everything that I post will be seen by many people, and make sure that it will not harm myself as well as anyone else. I know that I will never be able to get back what I put out on social media, and that the way that I present myself online can determine peoples perceptions of my character, values, and judgement.

People are constantly letting other peoples opinions effect them, and sometimes end up changing themselves just to make other people happy. How does the main character gain and lose points? The main character gains and loses points because of her co-worker s bad opinion on her. These points are so important to her because they determine other people s first impressions on her and it may affect her personal life aswell as her professional life, depending on whether or not she has a positive or negative rating. I believe that people might start being more kind to others and become more self aware in order to make sure that their ratings do not drop too low. However, I also think that people in this dystopian world will start lying about who they are in order to get more people to like them. In the world of these clips, every single social interaction is less like a fun conversation, and more like a personal interview, with each bad interview slowly ruining your self-image and reputation.
