  1. Social Media and Me By: Daniel M

  2. How have social media platforms changed the way you consume and understand information? By using social media I get information from different sources and perspectives. This information may sometimes be true or false information. The information we see on social media can be one sided and not show the full story. This makes people believing the wrong information. This may also spread this false information to others, making them believe in it.

  3. When you see or read news on social media, do you take time to research the story further? I personally don t trust the news on social media because it tends to be one sided or false information. Whenever I do see news on social media I search it up in a trusted news site to see if it is true or false. For me I usually find that news on social media is false or heavily biased towards one side making the people see the post and think that this news in correct when it is not. I don t think that news on social media can be trusted and I would rather use a trusted new site instead.

  4. What value do you get from online social interactions? From online social interactions you get to stay in contact with family, friends and can meet new people. Being able to interact with people who you don t see on a regular basis can allow you to stay in a good relationship with this person. There are also some negative things that can come from social media suck as bullying, harassment, addictions and more.

  5. How is social media and social capital helping to form youth culture? Many youth use social media and is a part of our lives now. Many youth can get easily addicted with all the entertainment we see on social media. With social media it can help users with what they are doing. Being addicted to social media is a bad thing because the more your addicted the less you want to do other stuff, and this is not good for your physical and mental health. Social media is a very powerful tool that can be used in both good and bay ways since it has a huge influence on everyone s daily lives.

  6. When you post online do you consider how the post may be seen by others? What it may say about you? How that post may be seen in the future? I barely post online but if I were to post something I would consider that the post will be seen by others. If I posted something I would first see how other people would see the post and if it would effect them in anyway. If I posted something I would allow close friends only to see the thing that I posted because it is permanent. If it was public anyone can see it and screenshot it but with people I trust it limits the probability of it happening.

  7. Do you see any similarities between the world presented in this video and the world you live in? I would say that there are many similarities between the world in the video, and our world. In the world in the video, people are based on ratings. This can relate in our world because people post stuff on social media for likes and the lady in the video posted of photo of a cookie and coffee, which got her rating up.

  8. How does the main character gain and lose points? Why are these points important to her? The main character gains and loses points through her rating. If you are kind to someone you get your points up but if you are not you get your points down. These points are important to her because people with a low score don t fit in with the people with a high score and the main character wants a high score so she can fit in with the other people.

  9. What value might be derived from this type of social interaction? This type of social interaction in the video can lead to behaviors such as selfishness, bias, and may more. The type of social interaction can lead to selfishness because at the end of the day you want to get a high point score so everyone would like you. Being selfish can also cause bias because in the vide Kindness may not deserve kind return it shows that many other people were avoiding Chester because they did not want their score lowered.

  10. How are social interactions changed in the world of these clips? Social interactions are changed in the world of these clips by the rating. You want to try and get a high rating because with a low one, it would be hard to survive and work your way back up. Many people would try to be nice and post as much stuff as possible to get their rating as high as possible.

  11. How do you tell the difference between facts and interpretations, opinions and judgements? A fact is something that can be proven to be true and has strong sources/evidence. Interpretation is the action of explain the meaning of something. Judgments are the ability to make considered decisions or conclusions. A opinion is a judgment formed about something but is not necessarily based on fact or knowledge.

  12. How do you analyze evidence from different perspectives? I compare and contrast the evidence and I look for new content and the content that is the same from the two sources. I take the evidence that are used in both sources and us that because the new evidence that I find on sources may not be true but because two sources said the same evidence then there is a higher chance for it to be true.
