  6. Karakteristik Externally Driven Issues: Di luar kontrol organisasi dan diharapkan bisa memengaruhi jajaran manajemen organisasi. Isu bisa mempengaruhi seluruh institusi atau hanya sebagian atau divisi tertentu. Isu bisa terus ada untuk jangka waktu cukup lama dan tidak ada solusi menyeluruh, sehingga potensi risiko bagi institusi selalu ada. Fundamental, sulit untuk ditangani dan tidak cukup diatasi hanya melalui PR dan gimmicks. Sebagian besar terkait dengan masalah politik

  7. Isu terkait permasalahan sosial dan politik secara umum Isu-isu ini terus diperbincangkan untuk periode yang cukup panjang. Pemerintah dan LSM selalu berkata bahwa perusahaan berkontribusi dalam menyebabkan isu ini. Contoh : Isu mengenai masalah obesitas (ditujukan pada food industry), global warming, belum dapat dipastikan kapan dapat terselesaikan.

Isu yang muncul terkait dengan perfoma organisasi di lingkungan sosial Organisasi atau perusahaan telah diidentifikasi melakukan sesuatu yang bertentangan dengan kepentingan publik sehingga dituntut untuk berubah Contoh perusahaan yang mempekerjakan buruh anak-anak, pembakaran hutan untuk lahan perkebunan, dll

Isu yang muncul akibat risiko baru terkait dengan inovasi atau praktek baru yang dilakukan perusahaan Banyak isu eksternal yang terkait dengan risiko yang dipersepsikan atau diasosiasikan akan terjadi seiring dengan perkembangan atau inovasi yang dilakukan oleh perusahaan Misalnya : teknologi nuklir, rekayasa DNA, dll.
