Implementation of NC(V) Programming & Robotics: Progress and Challenges at TVET Colleges
The introduction of NC(V) Programming and Robotics at TVET colleges is a significant step towards the 4th industrial revolution strategy. This program is being implemented at 10 approved colleges with the support of Tshwane University of Technology and Cisco academy. The process includes training lecturers, setting up programming and robotics laboratories, and monitoring progress through assessment tasks. Despite challenges, the enrollment of over 250 students indicates positive growth in this field.

R&D Tax Incentive part of a package of policy instruments to promote innovation, enhance competitiveness and thus supporting economic growth for the RSA. utilises the tax base to incentivise business enterprises, big and small, to undertake R&D activities in South Africa. 10
R&D Tax Incentive provides a 150% tax deduction on qualifying R&D expenditure for companies conducting research activities within South Africa. (currently) also allows companies conducting clinical trials or developing generic drugs to qualify. the development of pilot plants and prototypes are also eligible under this incentive. 11
R&D Tax Incentive Taxpayers require approval from the Minister of Science and Technology for R&D activities before claiming the deduction. The adjudication committee, comprising the DST, NT and SARS evaluate applications and recommend to the Minister. 12
R&D Tax Incentive There is no market cap on the claim. The IP generated from the project need not reside within the Republic. 14
