When Alt Text is Not Enough Images might be pictures, flowcharts, pie charts, infographics, etc. Extended description adds value: when the Reader needs more than is provided by short alt text. when HTML markup helps with the description, e.g. when a table is the best way to communicate when multiple paragraphs are needed. when elements such as quizzes or tables require more information for clarity. when the description is best coming before the item.
