BACKGROUND The KZN Province suffered from the prolonged drought since 2014 The interventions have been implemented in phases Phase 1 was funded (DWS, NDMC, Reprioritisation of budgets by organs of state) Phase 2 was funded by the KZN Provincial Treasury (R150m) Phase 3 has been funded by the National Treasury R122 366 000.00 to deal with the Hot spots identified where application was done using a national declaration s second window.

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN The National Treasury decided to allocate this funding through the Department of Water and Sanitation in line with their core function The Department of Water and Sanitation has advised that it will work with Umgeni Water as the implementing Agent Since this emanated from declared disaster, the PDMC shall remain responsible for coordination of a Provincial JOC / Drought Coordination Committee where beneficiary WSAs and DWS will report. Each month the PDMC shall consolidate report and submit to the NDMC as well as relevant structures within the Province

IMPLEMENTATION PLAN The relevant authorities include Cabinet sub-committee on disaster management, Cabinet, AWG as well as the PDMAF To this end, the PDMC will convene all the monthly JOC for reporting purposes on the first Tuesday of the month until interventions are completed. The team from municipal infrastructure and PDMC shall conduct site visits to verify and provide GPS coordinates for each project verified. The schedule of Tuesdays will be developed and circulated during the first meeting to be held on soon. However 7 November 2018 is for storm damages and hope to combine them on the next meeting
