Treasurer (Grades 9-12) 2020-2021
Introduction Thank you for reviewing the Treasurer training. Your role is important to successfully implement Partnering for Eternity at your school. As you review, watch for this symbol website relevant to your role. that will link you to resources on the PFE
PFE Logo We are delighted to introduce the new PFE logo. PFE or Partnering For Eternity - strives to build intergenerational connections, providing opportunities for students and mentors to receive Christ's blessings of service, growth, and friendship. Our new logo depicts this mission: The hands represent senior mentor and student reaching for each other as they build a true and growing relationship. The heart represents our hope that all participants will find something far surpassing a scholarship opportunity as meaningful relationships grow. It is our hope that the Partnering For Eternity program succeeds in relationships that will be emotionally, mentally, and spiritually nurturing for either or both parties. We hope the relationships will extend beyond this semester, through this life on earth, and in heaven.
Job Description Keep track of the 30% fundraising to report monthly to the PFE Administration (unless 100% funded at the beginning of the year) Review monthly visits and apply funding to students tuition accounts. Include on students' tuition statements a notation that the scholarship funds are provided by PFE Scholarship Program".
Student Selection Participant slots are based on school enrollment at the end of the previous year. Schools with enrollment of 30 or fewer are allowed up to 50% of enrollment. Schools with enrollment of 31 or more are allowed up to 20% of enrollment. Each school has a funding cap of $50,000, per year. Students/parents must follow program guidelines and deadlines. Students/parents must be able to commit to consistent, weekly, 2 hr. visits. Note: PFE students/parents who do not follow program guidelines will be removed from the program, potentially without payment.
70/30 Examples School with enrollment of 75 students: Eligible to participate in PFE (20% of enrollment): 15 participant slots Maximum funding received from PFE (70%): ($800 x 15) x 0.7 = $8,400 Maximum amount fundraised by school (30%): ($800 x 15) x 0.3 = $3,600 Total amount of tuition assistance your school could receive: $12,000 School with enrollment of 20 students: Eligible to participate in PFE (50% of enrollment): 10 participant slots Maximum funding received from PFE (70%): ($800 x 10) x 0.7 = $5,600 Maximum amount fundraised by school (30%): ($800 x 10) x 0.3 = $2,400 Total amount of tuition assistance your school could receive: $8,000
Scholarship Allocation It is up to your school to determine when to apply the tuition assistance. PFE scholarship money may only be applied to students tuition accounts. PFE scholarship money is not to go towards expenses such as books, classroom needs, field trips, uniforms, etc. If a student leaves your school with a PFE credit to his/her account, that money may not be paid out in cash. The extra tuition assistance may be put toward your 30% fundraising. The Treasurer is required to include a notation that indicates to the tuition assistance recipient from where the amount has come. A formal notation would be: PFE Scholarship.
Payment Schedule Scholarships funds will be awarded from PFE Administration once per semester (November/April). Students must complete required number of Qualifying Units per semester to be awarded scholarship funds and retain eligibility for future programming. If, for any reason, a mentor's living facility restricts visitation, no further scholarship money will be awarded for that student. No virtual visits will be permitted.
COVID-19 Response During this time, mentors may be feeling even more isolation and loneliness. The PFE program still expects service, intergenerational relationship building, and commitment. This will require creativity and intentionality with each visit. Make sure you are practicing your state and conference guidelines. If, for any reason, a mentor's living facility restricts visitation, no further scholarship money will be awarded for that student. Please contact our office if you would like to discuss this further.
Temporary Spring 2021 Programming During the COVID pandemic, we are offering temporary alternative program options that continue to ease senior isolation. Weekly reflections will still be required online for scholarship payment. If traditional visits are not possible during this time, your students may choose a combination of two activities from the list below to equal their weekly Qualifying Unit. Please encourage them to diversify their choices each week. Options: Yard work Food delivery Care package Read and discuss a book together Listen to a podcast/TED talk together and discuss Write letters 9-12 requirement = 3 letters
