WHATISTHESIGNIFICANCEOFBIRTHREGISTRATION? The Civil Registration: Civil Registration is the continuous, permanent, recording of the occurrence and characteristics of vital events pertaining to the population, as provided by decree or regulation, in accordance with the legal requirement of a country. 7

Non-linking of all basic services with birth and death certificates. Lack of sensitivity and knowledge among the registration factionaries. WHYISTHE REGISTRATIONLEVEL LOW? Low utility of birth / death certificates. Low priority and general apathy. Lack of coordination; absence of uni-linear CRS hierarchy. Lack of awareness about the need, importance and benefits of registration. Ignorance about rules, duties and responsibilities. 20
