Just transition plays a central role in achieving the goals of the Paris Agreement by ensuring fairness, equity, and inclusiveness in climate plans. While progress has been made, there is still room for improvement in anchoring just transition principles in national climate strategies. Countries have the opportunity to drive greater climate action by embedding these principles in their NDCs and long-term strategies. Global initiatives and commitments reflect the growing recognition of the importance of just transition in addressing climate change.
