Introduction Every organization has work ethical code that guides its decision-making and activities to have effective productivity and maintain its reputation. For example; UNILAG Vision: To be a top class institution for the pursuit of excellence in knowledge , character and service to humanity. Work Ethics therefore ensure that all workers complete their work with honesty and integrity to achieve the vision of the organization by adhering to rules and policies.
DEFINITION The adaptation of rules, regulations, standards, code of conduct in a certain institution or profession is known as Work Ethics
CHARACTERS/ATTITUDES NEEDED FOR PWE Honesty: Can you boss trust you? if no, it means you need to work on your work ethics. Appearance: Every job or profession has a code of dressing. Accountability: You are the ear and eyes of the Dean/VC in your hall. Organized: When I enter your hall, I will know if you are organized or not.
CHARACTERS/ATTITUDES NEEDED FOR PWE Punctuality/Discipline: A discipline person is always punctual and they are always ahead of time due to proper planning. Positive Attitude to work: Are you excited when working? Emotional Control: What do you do when you are angry? Respect for others: Professionals always treat others with respect
CHARACTERS/ATTITUDES NEEDED FOR PWE Strong communication: Speak effectively and also be a good listener. Focus: Professionals are not easily distracted Teamwork: We succeed together and fail together.
IMPORTANCE OF PWE Vision and Mission Accomplishment Delivery of Quality Services acceptable by SERVICOM unit Client/student loyalty and satisfaction Improved public reputation Promotion & Rewards for workers Professional growth
CONCLUSION Although there are organizational tips that helps to promote professional work ethics like training, increment in salary, recognition/awards etc. The most important is training and I implore you to kindly utilize this training by imbibing characters like honesty, punctuality etc. in your service delivery.
