Where do physical therapists work? 1 Schools Hospitals (acute care, inpatient care) Geriatric living facilities Skilled Nursing facilities (SNF) Outpatient clinics Home Sports and fitness facilities ex: YMCA in NC, UNC Wellness centers in NC Workplace
Whats a usual day like? # of patients you treat: 8 or > Hours: 8 to 10 hour day PTs # of evaluations in each setting: can be > 3 evals per day Lunch: 30 to 60 min Documentation: can be point of service May have monthly or weekly meetings Clean your treatment area May use various equipment/tools

What i wish i knew as a high school senior Do prerequisite coursework at a community college & transfer to a university Volunteer/shadow in several rehabilitation disciplines: occupational therapy, speech therapy, recreational therapy Consider working as a PT tech/rehabilitation aide to get more exposure & hours towards college applications If interested in graduate study, apply sooner rather than later Look for scholarship assistance & state forgivable loans
