Presentation Transcript

  1. Overnight Field Trip Parent Information

  2. Parent/Guardian Permission Participants are required to have a permission form and student information form signed by a parent/guardian. Multiple trips for a team or class require only one permission form. Dates of overnight travel should be noted on the permission form.

  3. Code of Student Conduct The Student Code of Student Conduct will be in effect throughout the entire field trip and event. This includes travel time, events, hotel stays, excursions, camps, and all other times. All consequences outlined in the Code of Student Conduct will be enforced consistent with school settings, regardless of time or place. Serious violations will cause the student to be removed from the trip and/or event.

  4. Alcohol, Tobacco & Drugs Prohibited Students are required to follow District guidelines concerning the use of alcohol, illegal drugs, and tobacco products at school sponsored activities. Engaging in this behavior will subject a student to disciplinary action up to and including the possibility of being sent home and receiving additional consequences under the Code of Student Conduct. Parents are encouraged to have a conversation with their student about the consequences that will result from their participation in prohibited activities prior to leaving for the trip. Coaches, sponsors, and activities directors will be permitted to search students possessions prior and during the trip upon any suspicion of prohibited activities.

  5. Dismissal from Trip Students may be dismissed from the trip due to discipline. Parents will be responsible for making all arrangements to ensure the student s safe return home. Teachers/coaches/sponsors will not leave the group to escort a student home. Parents will be responsible for transportation costs if their child is sent home early.

  6. Medication Parents should work directly with the sponsor/ coach/ teacher if their child has a medical condition that requires the administration of medication. The Board of Education Policy 2870 addresses administering medicine to students and is in effect for field trips.
