  1. TEAM PARENT MEETING Winter 2023

  2. HOLIDAY PERFORMANCE Regular practice Wednesday, December 13th. Team Holiday Performance on Friday, December 15, 2023 @ 5:15pm Wear competition leotard Guest tickets $8 each. Located at American Allstars

  3. BRONZE, SILVER, GOLD, PLATINUM, DIAMOND Regular attendance is VERY important Practice before a meet is MANDATORY Use meet check list as a guide HAIR SUPPLIES Special Hair Piece Bobby Pins / Clips Hair Spray Extra Hair Ties OTHER SUPPLIES Deodorant Grips / Wristbands Athletic Tape Extra Leo (red, white, blue) CHECK NO Jewelry NO Nail Polish Under Garments that don t show Water & Snacks OUTFIT 3/4 Sleeve Leotard Slides Warm-Up Outfit (White zip up & red pants) Team Backpack (white)

  4. HAIR Hair. In. One. BUN. Lots of hair spray Extra hair ties, clips, bobby pins No glitter please Don t forget your team hair tie! ($6 to replace)

  5. MEET INFO Admission for Parents Some are cash only and some are card only. Usually between $15-20 to enter. Gymnast Check In Gymnasts report to the team coaches and they will call them onto the floor when it is time to gather with the team. Entering the Competition Area Gymnasts must WAIT for the coaches to call them onto the competition floor.

  6. MEET INFO Length of the Meet 3-4 hours Waiting for Awards Be patient. The judges have to sign off on every score once the last gymnast of the session has competed. Score Watching Gymnasts will see their score, but we will not dwell on the scores. Do not communicate about scores or placements with your gymnast during the meet or awards ceremony.

  7. MEET INFO Meet Warm-Up Times: Bronze = 30 sec Silver = 45 sec Warm-Up Formats Modified Capital Cup warm-up the event and then immediately compete that event. Traditional warm-up each event, go back and compete each event. Gold = 60 sec Platinum = 90 sec Diamond = 2 min

  8. AWARDS CEREMONY 40% per age group are awarded medals 5 categories (vault, bars, beam, floor, all-around) Age groups can change at every meet Team awards are for 3+ gymnasts at a level Team Score: Take top 3 scores from each event & add them up State Meet will award a maximum of top 10 teams

  9. AWARDS CEREMONY CONTINUED Leotard with warm-up pants Slides Sit with the team Snack from gym bag only if meet allows food in awards area NO concession items until after AFTER AWARDS ONLY

GOOD SPORTSMANSHIP We will stay in the competition area until the last gymnast has finished competing in our session Gymnast must STAY SEATED until the announcer has completely called them up to the podium Verbally congratulate other gymnasts receiving medals Positive body language while on the podium Talking positively about other gyms & gymnasts

  11. COMPETITION SCHEDULE Nov 17: Fall Spectacular (Plymouth) Dec 8-10: MAG Christmas Classic (Novi) (Bronze doesn t go to the MAG Meet) Dec 15: Holiday Performance (American Allstars) Jan 26-28: Athlete Warrior Challenge(Warren) Feb 16-18: Girl Power (Novi)

  12. COMPETITION SCHEDULE March 1-3: STATE MEET Bronze & Silver Flint March 15-17: STATE MEET Pre Team, Platinum, Diamond Mt. Pleasant March 22-24: STATE MEETGold Battle Creek April 26-28: REGIONALS Gold, Platinum & Diamond La Grange, IL

  13. QUALIFYING STATES All Levels= 32.00 AA at a regular meet REGIONALS Bronze = No Regionals Silver = No Regionals Gold = 35.5 AA at States Platinum & Diamond = 35.0 AA at States

  14. AT REGIONALS Qualify for Regionals at State Meet ALLSTAR Team Regionals is just like every other meet except there will be a lot more gymnasts and judges from other states (OH, IL, KY, IN, MI). No team awards. Make the CHAMPIONSHIP TEAM This is a different format than seasons past and is in line with the upper USAG levels. Once the regional age groups are decided the top 8 in each each group will represent Team Michigan You compete with other Michigan gymnasts as Team Michigan against the best of the best of the other states. Individual awards and a State Team award

  15. REGIONALS CONTINUED Separate fee (approx. $210) Attire Team Michigan Leotard (included in cost) Bronze & Silver will finish up the competition season with their State Meet

  16. GYMNAST NO NOS Nail polish Jewelry Head bands Temporary tattoos Glitter Phone calls / texting / social media during competition & awards

  17. PARENT NO NOS Communicating with officials Entering the competition area Supplying vending items during competition Verbal Cue Deduction: for coaching from the stands ( run fast , stickit , jumphigh this is a team deduction) Flash photography! Communicating with gymnasts during competition

  18. JUDGING Start Value: Goal is a 10.0 SV Judging is subjective! 2 judges per event & scores are averaged (Bronze can have 1 judge) Form, Amplitude, Timing, Presentation

  19. GENERAL DEDUCTIONS -0.1 to -0.2 for EACH concentration pause -0.1 for each form break (toes, knees, arms) -0.1 for each small step or hop -0.3 for each medium large step or hop -0.3 for each extra swing on bars -0.5 for each missing requirement or fall

OTHER REMINDERS Closed November 22-25 (Thanksgiving) Closed December 22 January 3 (Winter Break) Re-open Thursday, January 4, 2024 As the season progresses, the coaches will make changes to the gymnasts routines based on judges scores/ comments. By state meet we want them competing their best routine that will make them and our team the most successful.
