Title I Facts What is Title I, Part A? As part of Every Student Succeeds Act (ESSA), Title I focuses on improving the academic achievement of disadvantaged children. Funding seeks to ensure that all children have a fair, equal, and significant opportunity to obtain a high-quality education and reach proficiency on challenging State academic standards and State academic assessments. Currently, BCPS serves elementary schools with poverty rates at or above 56% and middle schools at or above 61%, as determined by free and reduce meals status. 3

Family Engagement Home-School Compact This is an agreement between families and Chase Elementary: Dates for upcoming family events will be included Resources to support families will be included Attend the Annual Title I Meeting on August 30th to collaborate Share your feedback on the evaluation that will be sent The compact will be shared at the end of September in the following locations: School website and via School Messenger 5
Title I Allocation and Programs Title I Allocation Total allocation: $191,594 Programs that are supported by these funds: Staffing for Advanced Academic Teacher Staffing for Classroom teacher Staffing for Math Resource Teacher Staffing for Paraeducator Parent Engagement 6
Family Engagement Family Engagement Funds Plans for using funds include: evening family events, workshops, resources Attend SPP meetings to provide input throughout the school year. Complete the feedback form to share ideas for how funds should be spent. 7
School Progress Plan Reading Goal: All students will achieve literacy proficiency as indicated by the MCAP assessment. Math Goal: All students will achieve mathematics proficiency as indicated by the MCAP assessment. Safe and Supportive Environment Goal: Teachers will create and sustain a safe, welcoming and supportive classroom environment which values inclusivity and diversity. Parent/Guardian Rights Right to Know Letter Families will receive a letter explaining the rights you have about the professional certification of your child s classroom teacher. This letter will be shared: in via School Messenger on the Chase Elementary website 9
