PPG Cancer care presentation
In order to give our patients with cancer a high level of care the surgery has a cancer register and follows up every patient having active treatment or those receiving palliative care All patients who receive a new diagnosis of cancer receive a follow up with their GP offering support at least twice within the first 12 months
The surgery continuously strives to improve care to all patients including cancer patients We are striving to improve early cancer diagnosis This includes trying to improve uptake of screening for cancer e.g bowel screening and cervical screening
Cervical screening 82.7% of those eligible are up to date with smears ( 72.2% nationally) Bowel screening uptake 58% across England
We review our cancer referrals and discuss complex cases or late diagnoses of cancer We would like to involve the PPG in improving early cancer detection and improving uptake for screening and would like your ideas on how we could do this
