In-depth capstone courses required for Geology BS degree Geol 409 and 410, 6 cr each (12 total) will be offered Summer 2025
These two courses, 6 cr each (12 total) will be offered Geol 409 and 410 will be taught by Doug Clark, Bernie Housen, Brady Foreman, Cristina Garc a-Lasanta, Sean Mulcahy, Paul Betka, combo to be determined Course will be for 6 weeks, June 24 to August 1, 2025 Cost: summer session is per-credit: resident $3684 tuition, $900 Geol fee, $4584 non-resident $5968 tuition, $900 Geol fee, $6868 Geology fee covers transportation, camping fees
The course will emphasize principles of Geological Mapping Use of field observations, descriptions of structural and lithological data, with imagery and geospatial data, to determine relationships between map units Recognition and evaluation of geological structures Determination and depiction of stratigraphy Interpret local and regional geological events from map and field data analysis Team work and map production
We wake up with the Sun (especially if you want coffee) Everyone is ready, with your field gear, etc, by 7:30 Vans leave camp at 8:00- travel short distance to mapping area Mapping and field work until 3-4 PM (adjusted for conditions) Back at camp- review the day s work, discussions of project details, homework Prepare for the next day!
