  21. What We Learned From DWD 21

  22. What We Have Learned From DWD Near Completers: Over a third of near completers are only 1 class away from completion of a degree or certificate Biggest barriers to completing degree requirements: Math, MCG Requirement, Health/Physical Education Completers: Students are completing awards not listed as an active program of study Students with a correct active program list the degree, but not the associated certificates Students are not petitioning for certificates when licensure is required Students decide or are advised to delay petitioning False beliefs and misinformation prevent students from petitioning as they complete awards 22

  23. Benefits and Moving Forward 23

  24. Benefits of DWD Proactively identify students that complete Reduce the length of time to complete first degree Reduce the average number of units completed for first degree (VfS Goal 3) Increase the number of certificates awarded annually (i.e. posted to transcripts) Meet our goal to increase overall completion rates by 20% (VfS Goal 1) Maximize our award counts for SCFF apportionment funding 24

  25. Moving Forward Auto award Implementation plan to be developed Summer 2022 Informational presentations to campus stakeholders Fall 2022 Project Attain! CivicLab Building Rural Community Learning Systems Grant Sac State Reverse Transfer Pilot Program - West Ed California Adult College Completion Partnership Northern California partnership to increase adults with college credits complete a credential Embedding DWD processes in colleges in-reach activities In order to qualify for SCFF the award must be posted during the academic year a student was enrolled 25
