  1. PRESENTATION ON AUTOMATION,PLC AND SCADA By, Saikat Rahut Instrumentation and Control Engineering

  2. AUTOMATION Automation is the use of control systems and information technologies to reduce the need for human work in the production of goods and services. It s Basically, a set of pre-defined jobs, that is executed systematically and sequentially with the help of Software and Hardware.

  3. TYPES OF AUTOMATION Building Automation:-lifts, smoke detectors. Office Automation:- Printers, CCTV cameras. Scientific Automation:- Rocket launching. Light Automation:- Street solar lightening. Industrial Automation:- Automated bottle filling stations, steel factories etc.

  4. INDUSTRIAL AUTOMATION The use of Computerized and Robotics devices to complete manufacturing tusks. FIELD INSTRUMENT CONTROL SYSTEM PLANT HARDWARE CONTROL SOFTWARE CONTROL

  5. COMPONENTS OF AUTOMATION 1) SOFTWARE-SCADA 2)HARDWARE-PLC,PID,DCS 3)FIELD INSTRUMENTS

  6. FIELD INSTRUMENTS Field instrumentation to measure and monitor flow, level, pressure, temperature and analyze liquids. Depending on the application a field instrument is required to measure and control different automation processes. EXAMPLE- Light, limit switch, proximity sensor, temparature sensor, pressure sensor, hydraulic and pneumatic.

  7. PLC(Programmable logic Controllers) A PLC is a combination of solid state logical device which performs logical operations with respect to desire inputs and outputs. It was originally developed to replace mechanical relays, timers, counters. A sequence of instructions is programmed by the user to the PLC memory. Its purpose is to monitor crucial process parameters and adjust process operations accordingly.

  8. BENEFITS OF PLC 1) High speed data Transfer. 2)It saves Installation cost by less space. 3)Increased Reliability, flexibility and accuracy. 4)Easier to Troubleshoot. 5)Handles much more complicated systems. 6)Communication Capability. 7)Remote control capabilty.

  9. COMPONENTS OF PLC 1)Input Modules. 2)Output Modules. 3)Central Processing Unit. 4)Memory. 5)Power supply. 6)Programming Device.

  10. APPLICATIONS Any application in any industry that requires electrical control. 1)Packaging 2)Bottling & Canning 3)Material Handling 4) Machining 5)Power Generation 6)HVAC/ Building Automation 7)Security Systems 8)Water treatment

  11. VARIOUS BRANDS OF PLC Allen Bradley-USA Siemens-GERMENY Modicon -FRANCE Mitshubishi-JAPAN GE Fanuc-USA Omron-JAPAN

  12. SCADA SCADA(Supervisory Control and data Aquisition) is the sensing parameter from the sensors of the industry, to the Central Computer. SCADA is use for controlling and monitoring purpose. It is the real time industrial process control systems used to centrally monitor or control or remote local industrial equipment such as motors, valves, relays, pumps etc.

  13. FEATURES OF SCADA 1)Dynamic Process Graphics. 2)Trend[Real and Historical) 3)Alarms 4)Database Connectivity 5)Report Generation 6)Recipe Management 7)security 8)Script 9)Networking 10)Device Connectivity

  14. SOME SCADA SOFTWARES Allan Bradley- Rs view32 Siemens- wincc Modicon- CITECH GE Fanuc- CIMPLICITY Wonderware- In Touch
