Infection Prevention and Control Infection Prevention and Control Infection Preventionist use their expertise and skills to find bad germs. They adhere to the policies, procedures, and protocols are followed based upon the CDC and VDH recommendations to keep everyone safe in acute care, facilities, healthcare workers, and in our community settings. IP s can provide education and recommendations on: IP s can provide education and recommendations on: Hand Hygiene and PPE Environmental Services Education on Isolation Precautions Injection Safety/Point of Care Antibiotic Stewardship Healthcare Associated Infections (HAI) Vaccine Hesitancy We can provide you with: Fit testing, train-the-trainer Onsite Visit arranged to needs (Reactive and Proactive) Collaboration with the Facility, IP s, District EPI, and the mitigation specialist Virtual Infection Control Assessment and Response (ICAR) Communication Meeting to discuss needs prior to visit (onsite or virtual) Written report after visit Follow up via email/phone call Resources from VDH, CDC, WHO, etc. along with any handouts to the facility and staff To schedule an Onsite Meeting Contact Sherri Dressler (sherri.dressler@vdh.Virginia.gov or call 804-239-2404)
Requesting IP Visits/Education/Resources To request a visit or education from the regional IP s: Email Sherri Dressler sherri.dressler@vdh.virginia.gov with the request (please provide an email address and phone number of the requester) Visit requests can come from the LHD, facilities, HAI team etc. Sherri will review the request and reach out to the IP s, SW Regional Epi and COVID epi to find the appropriate staff for the request. District staff will be notified of the process and included on the visit Written reports will be provided after visits
