Emerging Respiratory Pathogens DESCRIPTION Coronavirus disease-19 (COVID-19) and Middle East Respiratory Syndrome (MERS) are emerging viral respiratory illnesses that present with a wide spectrum of clinical presentations ranging from asymptomatic infection to acute respiratory distress and death. CHANGES New STG on COVID-19 ADDED REASON The ongoing threat from emerging pathogens mandates a new STG be included in the chapter Aligned with NICD Guidelines 3
