In Scottish Borders, the Future DRT Network is introducing innovative ways of delivering Demand Responsive Transport (DRT) to support communities. Four new zones have been identified to address limited bus services, enhance workforce mobility, and provide transport access for the youth. Extending hours of operation will improve travel links during evenings and weekends. Route planning aims to optimize local transport links for commuters, with plans to collaborate with local employers for further data gathering. Funding has been secured for a 12-month trial of Moovit DRT services, with anticipated launch in August 2021. Operated initially on Scottish Borders Council vehicles, these services will serve various routes connecting key locations in the region.
