EIC Pathfinder The EIC Pathfinder is a funding programme under Horizon Europe that offers support to research teams by: funding research to develop the scientific basis to underpin breakthrough technologies supporting the earliest stages of scientific, technological or deep-tech R&D aiming to build on new, cutting-edge directions in science and technology to disrupt a field and a market or create new opportunities realising innovative technological solutions to identify, develop and scale up breakthrough technologies and disruptive innovations in Europe
Reflections Think differently not only as a researcher but bringing the technology to market Who will produce our CLS? What facilities will we require? Crystal manufacture tolerances, reproducibility, damage, shelf life) Boron doped Diamond; Germanium doped Silicon. New methods (acoustic wave). Testing crystal parameters DIAMOND UK; ESRF France Validation of models Operation of CLS needs an accelerator (GeV) Mami at MAINZ (electrons not positrons) CERN positrons where else in world? May need to build a beamline
Going forward Demonstration and characterisation of CLS (validate models) Techno-CLS Crystal tolerance (robust technology), other designs fundamental research Business Acceleration Services (BAS) Business plan and marketing plan Pathfinder projects can also receive additional funding for testing the innovation potential of their research outputs. A Fast Track scheme allows specific treatment of proposals that result from existing Horizon Europe (including the EIC Pathfinder) to submit directly to the full application stage of the EIC Accelerator. Are we ready? Does the consortium have the business brain ?
Conclusions Conclusions This was and is a journey. Use TRL as guide to where you are and where you want to go. Choice of partners critical not only good scientists but see the longer term vision Engage with industry not easy.
