  4. Are You Listening? Verse 19 swift ( tachus ) fleet of foot, speedy. Used only once in the NT. It implies a ready disposition to learn. Verse 20 wrath or anger ( orgen ) a violent emotion resulting in uncontrolled anger

  5. Are You Listening? Verse 21 filthiness ( rhuparos ) dirty, wicked ... and overflow of wickedness ( kakia ) the phrase renders out as a superabundance of evil that is bubbling over the edge of the container ... receive with Meekness (prautes), mildness of disposition, humility

  6. Are You Listening? Verses 22-25 Be doers of the word and not hearers only. doer from the Greek implies creative action and is distinctly different from a rote mechanical action. James uses a word that means our action is motivated by a pure heart

  7. Are You Listening? Idle Hands are the Devil s Workshop! Widows and orphans need an advocate, and we need a heart that is motivated to put our faith into action!
