  1. EXPERIENCE FROM THE CLINICAL TRIAL OPERATIONS COURSE: PERSPECTIVE OF A STUDENT/BENEFICIARY DR. BALENG MAHAMA WUTOR RESEARCH CLINICIAN PNEUMOCOCCAL VACCINES SCHEDULE PROJECT MEDICAL RESEARCH COUNCIL UNIT THE GAMBIA @ LSHTM GAMBIA

I am a medical doctor from Ghana I currently work as a research clinician in The Gambia at MRCG I joined the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine trial a year ago I coordinate clinical and research activities at the clinic I also manage and supervise the work of study nurses and other staff in the team A LITTLE ABOUT MYSELF ..

I joined the course to enable me build capacity, skills and knowledge in carrying out my duties WHY I ENROLLED IN THE COURSE I looked forward to learning from the experience of tutors, other participants and contributing my own perspectives The flexibility of the course made it easy to combine it with my work

  4. Ethical considerations in clinical trials especially as it relates to LMIC Designing GCP-compliant studies, protocol development, CRF design, SOP development etc Practical ways to ensure data quality Life cycle of clinical trials and basic biostatics Project, financial and risk management Team dynamics and conflict management Managing ISF SOME ESSENTIAL TOPICS THAT WERE DISCUSSED

Forum discussions created a platform for us to share our experiences, problems and learn techniques to resolve them Group discussions and work helped us to network with colleagues working on similar projects We developed a Risk Management Plan for a clinical trial as a group Diverse ideas from different countries It was self-paced and flexible and this allowed us to still benefit from missed live tutorials THE UNIQUE THINGS ABOUT THE COURSE

It enabled me to understand team dynamics, conflict management and how to build successful teams I have already started applying some of the skills from the course in my work My monitoring and supervisory visits have become more meaningful It has not made me an expert in conducting clinical trials but has definitely set me on a path to becoming one The ClinOps course has definitely exceeded my expectations! HOW HAS THIS COURSE HELPED ME IN MY WORK?
