HEALING OF BLIND BARTIMAEUS YOUTH SEARCH THE SCRIPTURES DECEMBER 15, 2024
Overview Memory Verse And Jesus said unto him, Go thy way, thy faith hath made thee whole. And immediately he received his sight, and followed Jesus in the way (Mark 10: 52). Text Mark 10:46-52
Introduction Blind Bartimaeus heard about Jesus passing by & cried out for help Christ heard his plea and healed him. In the same vein, Christ is willing to help as many youths as will look up to Him. For sure, life is a roller coaster, with different challenges - academic, social, spiritual and emotional. It is necessary to realise that Christ has power to solve these problems; as they prayerfully depend on Him Sadly, some Christian youths turn away from Christ, stop attending fellowship and get engaged in things that negates righteousness, all these do not take away the problems.
Aspects to consider 1 PASSIONATE PLEA FOR MERCY BY BLIND BARTIMAEUS (Mark10:46-48; Luke 18:34-39; Psalm 103:3-8; Hebrews 4:16; Exodus 34:5, 6) It was noted that despite efforts to stop Bartimaeus, he refused to give up on calling God Forgiveness of sin is the greatest blessing received through God s mercy. A sinner should humbly cry for mercy to be salvaged from sin When we seek/ prioritise the kingdom of God, He will handle other areas of our lives Let s make frantic effort to seek God while He may be found
Aspects to consider 2 PERSISTENT PLEA FOR HEALING BY BLIND BARTIMAEUS (Mark 10:48,49; Luke 18:36-39; Matthew 20:30; Hebrews 4:16) Bartimaeus was very persistent, His faith was not based on his circumstances. Some lessons to be learnt include: The attitude of people around us should not determine our disposition when in need Delay of answers to prayers should not discourage us When it appears others don t show concern, it should not stop us from following and serving the Lord. Prayer of faith with patience and hope in God will bring the expected victory. Wait on God, while waiting for God to solve your problems
Aspects to consider 3 PURPOSEFUL PLEA FOR HEALING BY BLIND BARTIMAEUS (Mark 10:49-52; Luke 18:40-43; Hebrews 4:16; Luke 1: 50,57,58; Romans 4:18-21; 9:15,18) Christ stopped, listened, and granted Bartimaeus request When we need help from God, there are things that we have to forsake God has given all-round promises covering salvation, success, financial breakthrough, healing, divine guidance and preservation from all evils, remove all forms of hinderances to miracle. The following can hinder prayers sin, doubt, no definite request, trust in man, seeking help in ungodly ways, deliberate disobedience to God s word, murmuring and complaining, unforgiveness, laziness in prayer, and unwillingness to show mercy to others.
Discussion What should Christian youths do to solve problem that seems to persist? What can we receive through God's mercy? What should be the attitude of Christian youths when help is not forthcoming from the people they expect to assist them? Mention the promises of God that assure believers of answers to prayer? What are the things that can hinder believers from receiving help from God?
