  1. University of Missouri System News > S&T hosted the Board of Curators meeting on April 12 and 13. > IFC met with the Board on April 12. Topic of discussion was faculty professional development. > Faculty Senate hosted breakfast on April 13. The theme was Elevating Missouri Through Research and Education. Dr. Joe Stanley and Dr. Stuart Baur spoke about their outreach activities through Project Lead The Way. Brad Ziegler, PhD student in CpE, spoke about his journey back to Rolla. James Bahm, BS student in Technical Communication, spoke about the role of the Writing Center in his education.

University of Missouri System News > CRRs amended at April meeting of the Board 340.070, Faculty Leave, UM 280.040, Student Involuntary Health Leave of Absence > Critical issue discussion on April 13 was on the University Task Force Charge: To examine the current CRR 20.010, General Organization, ( the University of Missouri shall be One University ) and explore the various System models Action is anticipated during June and or July 2018 meetings > Next meeting of the Board is in Columbia, on June 21 and 22 Agenda will include a meeting with IFC

Intercampus Faculty Council > Most recent meeting was on April 20. > Three Curators will be invited to May 17 meeting. > Current initiatives include Review of policies related to NTT faculty > Multiyear contract proposal has been sent to you for review > Is awaiting endorsement by IFC Review of procedures related to evaluation of teaching > Draft white paper has been provided to IFC. > Future initiatives proposed Review of grievance policy and resolution procedures Review of joint appointment policies

  4. Campus News > Third draft of strategic plan is underway. Second draft, which includes a narrative, is nearly complete. > Search committee has made recommendations for the Vice Chancellor for Research and Dean of Graduate Studies . > Academic Program review is ongoing. Chair: John McManus Final document is being revised based on input from departments. Will be submitted to system on April 30.

Campus News > Fireside chat with President Choi hosted by Chancellor Maples on April 18. > Dr. Kathryn Northcut is the 2018 Woman of the Year. > Ms. Meg Brady is the 2018 winner of the Advocate Award. > Nominations due April 30 for S&T faculty representative to UM System's Total Rewards Advisory Committee. > General Faculty meeting and Campus Committee elections: Tuesday, May 1, at 4 pm, in 125 BC.

  6. Ongoing Faculty Senate Initiatives > Review of bylaws > Development of procedure for creation and realignment of academic departments > Investigation of solar house sale Budgetary Affairs committee reports today.

  7. Faculty Senate Referrals > Public Occasions: Potential addition of a fall break before Thanksgiving, review of commencement participation policies for graduate students. > Student Affairs: Disability Support policies and practices. > Academic Freedom and Standards: Potent exclusion of courses taken elsewhere from GPA, potential addition of plus/minus grades. > Budgetary affairs: Sale of solar house, report on distribution of raises given to administrators, faculty, and staff, balance sheet for the MSU programs, information about faculty retention packages > TBD: Revisiting the requirement that search committee recommendations be made as unranked lists > TBD: Nepotism policy
