Big Picture What is going on out there?? COVID-19 will continue to be with us Larger universities are asking for self reported transcript information High cost of higher education & complexity of financial aid Applications up at public institutions Admissions remains highly competitive at the most selective schools
FAFSA Changes . FAFSA is available October 1st 2021 and will use tax/income information from the prior/prior year (PPY). For the Class of 2022 this will be 2020 tax information. College Deadlines are moving up!!! Many are now going to be November 1st. University of MN Twin Cities University of WI Madison Creighton University of St. Thomas
Ethical Responsibilities According to the National Association for College Admissions Counseling (NACAC) it is unethical to: Submit false, plagiarized, or fraudulent application materials. Have more than one pending early decision or restrictive early action application. Maintain active enrollment deposits at more than one postsecondary institution. CDH is a member of NACAC and our school policy is to send ONE final transcript in June.
Our Tips for Building a Good College List Remember your goal is to find a good fit . Every school on your list should be one you would be happy to attend. Updates ACT Many colleges still test optional for Class of 2022 www.fairtest.org lists test optional schools COVID-19 & the essay CDH will let colleges know what happened at school Students can talk about it in Common App Visits & Fairs Websites list visit options & virtual opportunities CDH will host admissions reps Fairs still virtual this fall
Colleges & Self-Reporting Becoming more popular at larger public schools Helps keep application costs down for applicants Gives control of application process to the student Helps colleges receive standardized applications Students still need to report all colleges to CDH *Most colleges want supporting materials from CDH

CDH Application Contract The Purple Sheet Submit your CDH Application Contract at least two weeks in advance of your first deadline Allows us to send your academic records Allows us to review your complete list of schools Enables us to meet deadlines for all seniors Give your form to Mrs. Reding in counseling
Teacher Recommendations Ask for Teacher Letters only if required limited to two. Talk or email teacher if haven t already Complete online classroom information form if teacher emailed it to you If you asked teacher in spring, letters due to us Oct 1
Secondary School Report or, Counselor Report Many applications do not require this piece. May require a full letter from counselor Highlights of your high school years Advocate for you as an applicant Gives official viewpoint for things you want explained Students: do your student questionnaires in Naviance Parents: respond to questionnaire email from counselor A good letter takes time to write!
