The name INTELLIGENT COOLING SYSTEM represents the improved function of a cooling system. The name is so given because in this system a sensor senses the cylinder temperature & controls the opening & closing of water passage in piston-cylinder arrangement.The basic principle behind this is to control flow rate of coolant by regulating the valve by implementing FUZZY LOGIC.
WATERCOOLINGSYSTEM:- In this system water is circulated through the jacket provided around the cylinder,cylinder head, valve ports & seats where it extracts most of heat.

The sensors & valves are connected to control unit.This control unit will not work unless the engine temperature reaches to 700 C. When it reaches to 700 C or beyond it the flow will start. If the temperature of the engine cylinders increases, the sensor will sense the temperature and the signal is given to the control unit and it controls the valve opening resulting in increase in the flow rate. Similarly when the engine retards the temperature of the cylinder decreases which will be sensed by the sensor and will operate the valve.
It will help to reduce the thermal stresses. Proper vaporization of fuel takes place. Efficiency will improve.
Initial cost is high. Installation is quite difficult.
Intelligent Cooling System can be used in automobiles having water cooling system, but it has not been implemented yet due to high initial cost.
Implementation of FUZZY LOGIC in a cooling system makes the system efficient.But this is an innovative idea only & has not been implemented yet.
