  1. Speech Screen Story for reception and KS1 Developed by Chloe Swinney (SLT) Bristol 2018 Sirona care & health

  2. Note for teacher/LSA: How to use this speech sound story Print this presentation out, or use it on a computer/ screen. Present each page at a time. Say what is written in black, then pause for the student to say the target word in blue. Tick if they get it right. If it s wrong, write the way the student said the word on the score form that goes with this story e.g. bear and student says: pear Feel free to point to pictures and use mime to help get the child to say the target word. If this fails/they say the wrong word, say the target word and get them to copy, then mark an (i) next to that word to show that it was imitated and note incorrect word in notes .

  3. Im going to tell you a story and you get to join in. Listen to what I say, then say what you can see.

  4. Oh look here is a. pig

  5. The pig is so hungry he eats his last apple

  6. He needs more food so goes to the shop

  7. On the way to the shop the pig meets a baby bear

  8. Who has got stuck in a web

  9. Oh no! cries the Pig, Ill go and get your . mum

  10. The baby bear cries and snot comes out of his nose

  11. The baby bear yells go and get my mum the pig starts to . run

  12. The pig looks everywhere for the mum, he looks over a wall

  13. He looks in the flowers

  14. He finds a hat

  15. He finds a tiger

  16. He finds a in a dog bed

  17. And then a cat

  18. Who is chasing a duck

  19. But he cant find the mum and the baby is still stuck

  20. He goes through a gate

  21. And trips over a frog

  22. Who is jumping

  23. The frog croaks try the door , its colour is yellow

  24. The frog hops off and hides under a leaf

  25. The pig opens the door and sees some furry feet

  26. He looks up and with his pig hand he gives a little wave

  27. At the door is the babys mum, and she looks very sad

  28. Ive lost my son, she says, I last saw him on the bus

  29. Ive seen him! says Pig, he s stuck in a web. Mum quickly grabs her keys

  30. And turns off the light

  31. Puts on her shoes

  32. And shuts the door with a . push

  33. To get to the baby they run down the road

  34. And over the bridge

  35. And they rescue the bear. Mum says Thank you!

  36. Mum gives the pig lots of his favourite foods to say thank you, he has . cheese

  37. And chocolate

  38. Pig trots back home, so full that he doesn t need to go to the shop. He is happy he s helped, he has a great big smile
