  2. 34 ! / p. 110 Reader s Bank Level 3 A woman once wrote a long story and sent it to a famous editor. After a few weeks, her story came back. The woman was angry. She wrote to the editor: Dear Sir. Yesterday you sent back my story. How do you know it s not a good story? I m sure Before I sent you the story, I glued together pages 18, 19 and 20. When the story came back, the pages were still stuck together. The editor wrote back: Dear Madam. Do you eat all of an egg to know it is bad? .

  3. 35 / p.112 Reader s Bank Level 3 Sharks are scary killers, but they are interesting animals. They lose teeth every day. One tooth only lasts for ten days. Sharks lose several teeth every time they bite into prey. When a shark loses a tooth, a new one grows to fill its place. So sharks teeth never have a chance to grow too old. They always stay young and healthy. That is why sharks have a strong bite. Humans have just two sets of teeth for their whole lives. But sharks grow thousands of new teeth in their lifetime. They never have to worry about losing teeth. How lucky they are!

  4. 36 / p.114 Reader s Bank Level 3 One day, you argue with your friend. Later you feel bad about it and want to apologize. Here are some good tips on how to apologize: Just say you re sorry. Don t make any excuses. Tell your friend exactly why you re sorry. instead of just saying I m sorry, say I m sorry for speaking ill of you in front of your friends. Tell your friend what you ll do next time to avoid this problem. For example, you can say, Next time if there s anything I want to tell you, I will speak to you in private. What can you do if your friend still doesn t forgive you even after you do all of the above? In that case, it is best to wait. When your friend is ready, he or she will contact you. ,
