POVERTY WHAT IS POVERTY? SHORTAGE OF BASIC THINGS THAT MANY PEOPLE TAKE FOR GRANTED, SUCH AS FOOD, CLOTHING, SHELTER AND SAFE DRINKING WATER, THAT AFFORD A MINIMUM STANDARD OF WELL BEING AND LIFE. ABSOLUTE POVERTRY: Lack of resources Living on the streets RELATIVE POVERTY : Set of standards that is consistent over time and between countries. E.G. People who eat les food than is required to sustain the human body I an absolute poverty measurement.
POVERTY THRESHOLD PG 122 MINIMUM LEVEL OF INCOME THAT IS NECESSARY TO ACHIEVE AN ADEQUATE STANDARD OF LIVING IN A GIVEN COUNTRY.
