34 , _1 / p. 110 Reader s Bank Level 4 In February 2019, chimpanzees escaped from the Belfast Zoo in Northern Ireland! How did they do that? One day, some tree branches in the zoo broke because of the stormy weather. The chimpanzees used the branches to escape. They made a ladder by putting the broken trees next to a wall and then climbed out. Once they left the zoo, the chimpanzees (A) wondered / wandered around for a little while. They saw visitors, but didn t (B) attack / defend anyone.

35 _1 / p.112 Reader s Bank Level 4 The sea level is rapidly rising because of global warming. If the sea level continues to rise at this rate, many parts of the world will sink into the sea in the near future. A company named Oceanix came up with a good idea to solve this problem. ( ) The company suggested building a floating city on the ocean. ( ) This city would be made up of six man-made islands where about 10,000 people could live. ( ) People wouldn t need to worry about food because they could grow crops there. ( ) For example, in summer it could move to a cooler place, and in the winter to a warmer place. ( ) In addition, the city could move around depending on the season.

36 !_1 / p.114 Reader s Bank Level 4 Spiders mainly use their silk to catch prey. But did you know that spiders also use their silk ____________________________? Some spiders use their silk to cross streams. They do this by casting a silk thread across the stream. The thread can be as long as 25 meters. It acts like a bridge for the spiders. And then, like a circus performer, the spiders crawl along the thread to cross the stream.

Once they are in the air, they can travel like they are on a balloon. But spiders don t let their old homes go to waste. Before they move to a new place, they eat their webs. This becomes protein that they can recycle for a new web.
