EIA 449 Standard Introduced in 1970 by EIA to overcome limitation of RS-232 Increase Bandwidth Increase Distance
Mechanical Specification It has two connector 9 Pin connector 37 Pin Connector
Category I Pins Category - I Pins has those pins whose functions are compatible with those of EIA- 232. For each Category - I Pin EIA -449 defines two pins one in the first column and one in second colemn
Category-II Pins Category II Pins are those that have no equivalent in EIA 232 or have been redefined.
Electrical Specifications EIA-449 uses two standard to defines its electrical specifications RS- 423 (for Unbalanced Circuit) RS- 422 (for Balanced Circuit)
