Onboarding Review all aspects of the enrollment process from first point of contact to first day of school OCC Strategy Intervention Examine support structures that keep students on their path January 2018 Pathways Provide campus leadership in creating detailed curricular pathways for academic program or career clusters that lead to specific employment or transfer outcomes. All campus meeting
Development of cohesive, cross- functional teams to conduct inquiry related to three areas: onboarding, intervention, and (curricular) pathways Focus 2018-19 Conduct detailed inquiry in all related to their charge.
Completed inquiry Onboarding Outreach Application, Financial Aid, and Special Programs (in conjunction with AB19) Orientation and Registration First day of class and Preparation Counseling, Education/Career Planning & Mapping (in conjunction AB 705) Technology and Support Reviewed and deconstructed existing onboarding processes Continued inquire Community Partnerships & Collaborations Student input, especially students with very different journeys and experiences (involve IT and Institutional Effectiveness) Next Steps Research OCC demographics to identify various pathways for onboarding Define design framework Provide training/expectations for each employee group
Completed Inquiry Determine where students typically fall off the path ; review technology that keeps students on the path (included student input) Completed a SWOT analysis regarding OCC services and resources Took inventory of current services, programs and resources available to students. Students needs for intervention were divided into three categories: Academic, Support Services/Programs, Social Support Looked at various software programs and technology that the college uses that support intervention: Civitas, Canvas, OCC Mobile App Communication plan to increase awareness of services and resources Intervention Assess, improve, and develop interventions using best practices Continued Inquiry Early Alert Systems (pilot program) Next Steps Recommendations to campus
Completed Inquiry Reviewed, assessed, and reflected upon meta majors from many other colleges Review of several career coaches and other external tools Recommended web based strategies designed for effective student discovery and identification of majors, academic goals, and/or careers. First draft of cluster disseminated to the campus and feedback collected from students and faculty; Program sorts of all degrees/certificates within sample clusters was completed by student groups, the design team, and faculty senate Status report on work completed by committee was communicated to faculty and constituent groups at the end of each primary term Pathways Identify like- pathways; create maps Continued Inquiry Review of second draft cluster in Fall 2019 Next Steps Faculty mapping of program requirements, including suggested GE Identify key performance indicators
