COURSE DESCRIPTION Organometallic Chemistry Introduction (definition, classification and stability of organometallic compounds), classification, bonding and synthesis of main group organometallic compounds, organotransition metal complexes, classification of ligands, EAN rule and its applications, nature of bonding in transition metal complexes, d and p-complexes, metal-carbon bond cleavage reactions, oxidative-addition reactions, applications in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis. .
Course Objectives After completing this course the student will be able : 1. To understand the introduction of organometallic compounds (definition, classification and stability of organometallic compounds), 2. To understand the classification, bonding and synthesis of main group organometallic compounds, 3. To understand the organotransition metal complexes, classification of ligands, 4. To understand the EAN rule and its applications 5. To understand the metal-carbon bond cleavage reactions, 6. To understand the oxidative-addition reactions, applications in homogeneous and heterogeneous catalysis..
