Full blood count showing a low MCV suggests the diagnosis of iron deficiency anaemia. CHANGES Dosing of ferrous sulfate, oral and ferrous fumarate, oral AMENDED To include alternate day dosing when there is poor tolerance to daily dosing REASON Pragmatic option provided & limited evidence suggests that hepcidin levels increase with increasing doses of oral iron.
