  3. Required Forms If your son has participated in football, xc or wrestling, he is good to go. Forms can be accessed from school s web site and athletics tab Physical-must have been taken after May 1 and must use correct forms Cannot try out with our proper forms!

  4. ELIGIBILITY Any F on the 2ndquarter grade card means a player cannot play Weekly eligibility-If a player is making an F in any class, he cannot play in a game until he brings the grade up! (Grades checked Wednesday, player becomes ineligible on Saturday)

  5. Practice/Game gear Basketball shoes separate pair needed ..may not want to buy until cuts have been made Gym shorts, t-shirt for try outs Team members will be provided with practice jersey, home & away uniforms Shooting shirt/warm up-player buys & keeps (usually costs around $20)

  6. TRYOUT SCHEDULE Monday, December 16 & Tuesday, December 17 8thgrade: 3:30 5:00 7thgrade: 5:15 6:45 Tryouts will be held at Pioneer Ridge Important to be at both days of tryouts!

Try outs--Evaluation Factors considered: athletic ability, skill level, work ethic, attitude Four coaches involved in decision making Try to be as fair and objective and include as much measurable data as possible Some of the criteria used in the evaluation are somewhat subjective and can be difficult to quantify EG: defense, ball handling and passing Will keep approx. 16 to 20 per grade level

  10. PLAYER EXPECTATIONS Be on time. Being late to practice because of detention or referral will result in a basketball related consequence Work hard, have a good attitude, be coachable Be a good team mate Good sportsmanship at all times Games - white or black socks, no sweat or head bands, tights or compression sleeves unless doctor prescribed

  11. Practice Attendance We will practice Monday Friday except for game days. Will practice the first two Saturdays of the season If a player attends school and for some reason has to If a player attends school and for some reason has to miss practice, he must notify the coach miss practice, he must notify the coach. An unexcused absence will affect a player s playing time. If a player is absent from school due to illness, no communication is required. If you need to miss a practice on a day in which we don t have school, communicate to your coach ahead of time. . Three unexcused absences will lead to being dismissed from the team.

Playing Time Playing time may not be equally dispersed PLAYING TIME IS EARNED IN PRACTICE with attendance, effort, attitude and performance In most games, everyone should get some playing time Varsity games more emphasis is placed on being competitive and less on playing time JV games more of an emphasis on equal playing time although rarely is playing time exactly equal

Parents Role If you need to have a serious discussion with a coach, please do not attempt to meet right after a game Be careful about offering advice contrary to coaches (makes it less fun for everyone) During games, be as positive as possible with the players and officials Practice attendance is discouraged Try outs closed to everyone but coaches & players Will use Remind 101 to communicate with families

Lettering policy & game format Lettering policy: Must play in of all the varsity quarters played or participate in GE basketball for two years Typical game format: JV @ 4 followed by Varsity except on final Saturday Will possibly have games on final Saturday Must ride bus home on away games unless a parent signs permission form
