  2. Background New to TVHS! 8th Year teaching High School Science at all levels Earned my Biochemistry degree at UCSD and a Master s Degree in Science Education from WGU Most importantly, I have a passion for science and am eager to show your students how Chemistry can apply to the world around us.

  3. Course Content and Objectives Chemistry and Chemistry-plus courses follow the same Chemistry Standards recently established by NGSS (Next Generation Science Standards) Chemistry is the study and composition of matter and investigates the mechanisms in which changes in matter occur. Chem-plus courses have increased academic rigor.

  4. About the class Google Classroom is utilized to provide students resources, improve communication, and streamline assignments. Resources include: Online textbook, presentations, study guides, videos, assignments, and announcements Online access is required. Google Classroom Parents/guardians can sign-up to join

  5. Types of Assignments Homework Typically started in class. Provides meaningful practice for students. 3x week Labs- Hands-on lab activities (*Attendance is critical) Quizzes- Generally 1x week to cover previous material Tests- Typically at the end of every unit

  6. Types of Assessments (cont) Activities and discussion are both independent and working with a lab partner. Make-up Policy 2 assignments (HW category only) can be made up per grading period. Make-up work will be considered late and counted as zero points afterwards.

  7. Types of Assessments (cont) Test corrections Available for tests only (for the exception of final exams) Students can submit test corrections for their wrong answers and receive credit back on their test. I strongly encourage students to take advantage of this!

  9. Classroom Expectations Classroom culture built on mutual respect Every student has the right to learn in a constructive, safe environment. Students need to be willing to share ideas and be open- minded I prefer to discuss and resolve issues with students individually Parents/guardians will be contacted should issues persist
